What the assistant does
- Answers in your brand voice and identifies itself as an assistant when the caller asks.
- Asks your configured intake questions and captures the answers into structured fields.
- Holds a calendar slot for 15 minutes against your live calendar.
- Drafts a short SMS confirmation with date, time, and name only.
- Reads your team's approved referral language when a caller describes a likely emergency.
- Surfaces a review-ready note with a transcript excerpt next to every field so staff can verify the source.
What the assistant does not do
- Diagnose, prescribe, or give pain triage.
- Provide legal opinions, case-value estimates, or representation promises.
- Provide veterinary dosing or treatment guidance.
- Quote final pricing on services that require a quote.
- Dispatch emergency services.
- Auto-confirm sensitive bookings without staff approval.
- Send marketing SMS or include sensitive content in message bodies.
- Claim to be a human, or imply 911-equivalent capability.
Human review
Every booking in CallPorch carries a source trail — transcript excerpt next to each field. Staff can approve, edit, escalate, or decline. Sensitive service lines (dental emergency, legal intake, veterinary urgency, home-service safety) are configured to require approval before the SMS confirmation goes out.
Models and data
We use a mix of speech-to-text and language models from vetted providers. Workspace transcripts and intake notes are not used to train shared models. Aggregated, de-identified metrics (call duration, accuracy of slot matching) are used to improve the service.
Customer data is opted out of general LLM training by default. Any fine-tuning is performed within a per-tenant silo.
Errors and limits
Speech recognition makes mistakes — accents, background noise, and uncommon names can be transcribed incorrectly. That's why every field in the review queue links to the transcript excerpt it came from. If you spot a recurring miss (a service name, a medication, a street), tell us at support@callporch.co and we'll add it to your workspace's recognition vocabulary.
Not professional advice
The assistant is a tool that helps your team capture and route calls. It is not medical advice, not legal advice, not veterinary advice, not financial advice, and not emergency dispatch. It does not replace the professional judgment of the people who do those jobs in your office.
Transparency to callers
We recommend (and your workspace can require) that the assistant identify itself as an automated front desk at the start of the call. When a caller asks "am I talking to a person?" the assistant answers honestly and offers to route to a human or take a callback request.
